Counterculture Museum Update

Yes, we realize it’s been a few weeks since we posted a progress update, and we’re sorry to leave you pining for news! Many exciting things are going on lately, but the one that’s keeping us busiest is finishing the build out of the new Counterculture Museum, its opening fast approaching!
At the Counterculture Museum, we’ll be able to continue telling the story that begins with the Beat Generation in the post-WWII years, becoming a movement that exploded into the public consciousness in the decades to follow, and created a massive cultural shift that rippled through America and beyond.
It’s been a lot of work, a tremendous amount of coordination and moving parts, all happening mostly behind the scenes, but we’re on track to open for visitors in May. Stay tuned for details about opening festivities coming soon!
Help Us Cross the Finish Line to Open the Counterculture Museum

We’re in the final stretch of bringing the Counterculture Museum to life at the iconic corner of Haight & Ashbury in San Francisco — and we need your help!
As we prepare to open our doors to the public, we’re looking for a few generous and experienced individuals to help us in any of the following areas:
- Carpentry/Woodworking – We need help with small construction projects, shelving, and finishing details to bring our exhibit and gift shop spaces to life.
- Audio & Video System Setup – Assist us in setting up our speaker and control box system, primarily for curated background music, and eventually for talks, events, and performances. We also want assistance is setting up video exhibit screens and playback.
- Video Creation & Editing – We’re looking for someone with skills in video production and editing to help us create compelling video content that tells the story of counterculture movements.
- If you’re local in or near San Francisco and have some time and talent to share, please contact us at info@counterculturemuseum.org Your support will help preserve the spirit of activism, creativity, and community that shaped generations—and inspire future ones.
Thank you for being part of this movement!
