North Beach Remembers Jack Hirschman
On Saturday, a multitude from North Beach and beyond came out to pay their respects to our dearly departed poet, Jack Hirschman. Beginning at Specs’, a second line procession featuring the North Beach Brass Players marched north up Columbus to Grant Ave, pausing at the Caffe Trieste for readings from the Revolutionary Poets Brigade. The procession then continued up Grant turning onto Filbert, arriving at Washington Square Park for speeches, readings, and song.
It was a heartening sight to see so many people filling the streets in celebration of Jack’s life and legacy. He touched all of us, each in his unique way, and upheld so much of what makes North Beach special.
