Coming Soon: “Everybody goes home in October” Auction

We’ve been speaking to some longtime friends lately. They’ve been asking us when the Beat Museum in North Beach will reopen following the earthquake retrofit. They’re nostalgic for the Beat Museum and what we had to offer so consistently for the last 20+ years. They’re longing for a simpler time, and some even mentioned how they found the Facebook auctions we ran during the Covid years a positive and comforting means of connection during an isolating time.

The earthquake retrofit remains ongoing. The Beat Museum will reopen, we’re just not sure precisely when. Our intention has always been to reopen once the retrofit is complete, and our landlord has committed to having us back. If we had to make a prediction, it looks like reopening sometime in 2027 is a more realistic timeline. Such is the nature of construction, retrofits, and remodels—schedules slip, unexpected changes come up, and allowances need to be made. So for now we’re being patient, concentrating on continuing to grow the Counterculture Museum in Haight-Ashbury, and waiting for the work to complete.

So while the Beat Museum remains closed, we’ve decided to reinstitute the Facebook auctions that so many people from all over the country enjoyed so much in 2020 and 2021, when we were closed out of necessity. Those auctions kept us alive during a dark and uncertain time, and from what we heard from so many who participated, it was a fun and happy way to stay connected with other like-minded people who love the Beat Generation and support what we do.

So here we go! Coming soon to our Facebook page, look for our first auction in years to take off again in early October. We’re calling it the “Everybody Goes Home in October Facebook Auction” from the Beat Museum.

Check us out on Facebook soon!
