‘Ellis Island’ by Christopher Felver
No other photographer has documented the life and times of Lawrence Ferlinghetti in such exquisite detail as Christopher Felver. His images of the poet, painter, and legendary publisher have appeared in Ferlinghetti Portrait (1998), Beat (2007), and a great many other books and publications; his work has been exhibited in numerous galleries, libraries, and museums the world over; and his films West Coast: Beat and Beyond (1984), The Coney Island of Lawrence Ferlinghetti (1996) have received critical acclaim. His latest film, Ferlinghetti: A Rebirth of Wonder (2013) is the definitive documentary of Ferlinghetti’s life and work.
The Beat Museum is proud to exhibit a series of Felver’s original photographic prints from March 1st – June 30th.
