Gone in October: 50th Anniversary of Jack Kerouac’s Passing
The bus roared on. I was going home in October. Everybody goes home in October.
Fifty years ago, Jack Kerouac died on October 21st, 1969 in St. Petersburg, FL, at age 47. In a sense, he too “went home in October.”
In memoriam of this bittersweet milestone, please join us for a discussion of Kerouac’s life and work with biographer Dennis McNally, author of Desolate Angel: Jack Kerouac, the Beat Generation and America, and Cathy Cassady, daughter of Neal Cassady.
Also, for the very first time ever we will be exhibiting items associated with Kerouac’s funeral in Lowell, Massachusetts. This exhibition will open on October 21, 2019 and will run through New Year’s Day.
