20th Anniversary of the Beat Museum on Kerouac’s 101st Birthday!
The improbably fantastic,
unspeakably synchronistic,
freakishly hysterical
history of the Beat Museum
Twenty years ago, we opened the Beat Museum with a modest collection in a tiny storefront in downtown Monterey. After two years on the road across America in the Beat Museum on Wheels, performing a two-man show with John Allen Cassady, introducing the Beat Generation to a new generation of young people, we returned to California, and moved the Beat Museum where it belongs—in North Beach, the heart of beatdom on the West Coast.
We’ve collected quite a lot in the last two decades—a vast array of art and artifacts, archives, personal effects, photography, rare books, and more. We’ve also collected so many stories!
This past fall, 2022, we rebooted the Beat Museum on Wheels, and journeyed again across America in celebration of Jack Kerouac’s centennial year. We’d love to share some of our stories from the road with you.
Join us this March 12th—Jack Kerouac’s 101st birthday—for an evening featuring music, poetry, games, and more. We’re also offering some door prizes and other free giveaways!
