An Interview with Henri Cru
West Village, NYC 1990
Directed by Jesse Block
Henri Cru (1921-1992) was one of Jack Kerouac’s oldest and most enduring friends. They met in the late 1930s at Horace Mann Preparatory in New York City, and it was Cru who later introduced Jack to Edie “Frankie” Parker (somewhat to Cru’s chagrin), whom Kerouac married a short time later. Henri Cru is perhaps best remembered as the character “Remi Boncoeur” in On the Road, and “Deni Bleu” in Visions of Cody, Desolation Angels, and others.
