The Beat Museum has gone international!
Last night I had the honor of doing something I’ve never done before. I represented the Beat Museum as well as the city of San Francisco speaking at the opening ceremony of a new exhibition at the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn, Germany. The exhibition is called “CALIFORNIA DREAMS: San Francisco – A Portrait.”
This exhibition, prominently featuring the Beat Generation, runs from September 11, 2019 until January 12, 2020 at the Bundeskunsthalle, a magnificent museum (the name translates into English as the “Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany”). The following museums and institutions from California are represented in “CALIFORNIA DREAMS: San Francisco – A Portrait”:
- The Beat Museum
- Crocker Art Museum
- GLBT Historical Society
- Levi Strauss & Company
- San Jose Museum of Art
- California Historical Society
- The Smithsonian Institution
- Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
- Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology
The Beat Museum has worked with numerous terrific organizations over the last 16 years, but this is the very first time we’ve ever partnered in an international capacity. We’re very proud and grateful for this opportunity and new milestone, and we want to do it again! Please contact us if you want us to bring the Beat Museum to your town!
