1). JACK’S ON THE ROAD SCROLL IN ENGLAND
For our European friends who have been watching the news all these years about Jack’s Scroll making the rounds at various US cities, here’s your opportunity to see it yourself without making that great leap across the Atlantic.
I spoke to Carolyn Cassady the other day who told me she was the Guest of Honor last week when the exhibit opened in Birmingham. Carolyn raved about the exhibit and said she had a delightful time. (BTW, you should buy Carolyn’s expanded and updated version of her book “Off The Road” as a stocking stuffer for your favorite Beat fan. No one knew Jack and Neal like Carolyn did!)

The exhibit is being hosted at The Barber Institute in Birmingham from December 3rd to January 28th, 2009.
Details are here:

And there’s a Conference this coming weekend December 12th and 13th. If I were anywhere in Europe I’d find a way to get to Birmingham this weekend and be there!

2). NEW GREGORY CORSO MOVIE
There’s a new film on Gregory Corso set to start making the rounds on the film festival circuit. I’ve been assured by the producers that when the film is available on DVD we here at Kerouac.com will be the first place to have it available. Go to their website and if you’re a big Corso fan sign up for their mailing list so you don’t miss any news. It's really a fascinating story. They even reunited Gregory with his mother

4). GET IT IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS
For those of you shopping for last minute gifts, there’s still time to receive items if we’re shipping to the US. If you’re outside the US the timing might be “iffy”. We’ll do our best, but we’re not in charge of the US Post Office or any of the world’s other Post Offices. Order today, though, and we’ll do our best to get your items to you before Christmas Day.

5). THANK YOU FOR YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT - A SPECIAL NOTE
Right before Thanksgiving I asked the people on this mailing list to support what we do by placing an order with Kerouac.com or by making a tax deductible donation to our non-profit Foundation for Creative Expression (ffce.org). With sales down for retailers in all sectors across the country we're asking for support from our friends online to help us make up that shortfall. For those of you who responded, we are deeply grateful! For those of you who have not yet had the chance - Good News! - there’s still time!
You Can Place an Order at our Online Store:

Tax-Deductible Donations to our Non-Profit Can Be Made Here:

NON-MONETARY DONATIONS:
Something to keep in mind is donations do not have to be monetary! Last week we had a woman stop in who asked if she could donate a Gregory Corso painting. Our answer was, “But, Of Course!” A donation of this kind allowed this woman to make a tax-deductible donation (we'll be having the painting appraised for her) and she’ll be able to claim that amount this year! The painting, of course, will eventually be added to The Beat Museum collection.
You can make other non-Beat related donations as well. Let’s suppose you have something of value your Aunt Minnie left you - a pair of diamond earrings, for instance. You can donate those earrings to the FFCE and we’ll have them appraised and you get to take a tax write off for the appropriate amount. Do it before year end!
WHY WE'RE DOING THIS:
We want to make The Beat Museum a magnificent force for good in the world. Despite all the trouble we're all seeing around us, we want to use The Beat Museum to help remind people we are all bigger than our difficulties and better than our weaknesses. We want to help people believe in the future again and to believe in our collective abilities. We want to help people believe in Possibility again!
We know times are tough for many people and every organization in the world is asking for your support. But times are going to get better! You’ll see! All economics is cyclical and America and the entire world will be on the upswing again soon!
Have faith, friends. Help is on the way!
Happy Holidays, everyone!
